Virginia Long
Virginia Long passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born on June 23, 1929, in Shamokin, PA.
Virginia was a woman of great strength and selflessness. She was known for her loving and generous nature and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her sister, Marlene (Harrison) Feese, sister-in-law Alice Martin, and her five children: Linda (Daniel) Jeffrey, Cynthia (Lars) Okeson, Susan Myers, Robert Long, and Nancy (Carl Edward) Oswald. Virginia also leaves behind her five granddaughters: Jennie (Scott) Altfillisch, Laurie (David) Haugh, Samantha (Richard Rojas) Long, Courtney (Jeff) Kaiser, and Calli Oswald, as well as seven great-grandchildren. She also had many extended family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Robert (Shorty) Long, her brother, David Martin, her sister, Helen Martin, a daughter in law, Virginia Long, and a son in law, Stephen Myers.
Virginia had a fulfilling career at JCPenney in Rockville, MD. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family, and cherished every Sunday at church with her friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed frequent visits to the library. She also found solace in sitting outside on her deck.
A memorial service to celebrate Virginia's life will be held at Rockville United Church located at 355 Linthicum Street, Rockville, MD 20851, on Saturday, November 4, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Rockville United Church in her memory.

I have very fond memories of Mrs. Long when she lived in Twinbrook.
She always let us come over and play and was so sweet to all of Nancy's friends. I'm glad I was able to share in that part of her life. Wishing peace and comfort to the family in this difficult time.
