James Long

November 2, 1946 - January 30, 2025

James A. Long, 78, of Waterville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1946, to the late Allen Peter and Hazel (Tonjes) Long in Napoleon, Ohio. He married Charlotte Schmidt on June 23, 1979, and she survives in Waterville, Ohio.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of Grand Rapids High School. While in high school he excelled in all sports. He played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track. Shortly after graduation he entered the United States Airforce. He served our Country proud from 1965-1969. Jim was a member of St. Johns XXIII in Perrysburg, Ohio. Jim's athleticism did not end in high school, he was an avid golfer who owned multiple golf courses within the area and had eleven hole-in-ones. Above all else Jim cherished the time he spent with his loving family.

Along with his beloved wife, Charlotte, Jim is survived by his 4 sons, Cary (DeAnna) Long of Grand Rapids, Ohio; Kyle (Kerrie) Long of Perrysburg, Ohio; Allen (Christine) Long of Novi, Michigan; Daniel (Audree) Long of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Edward and Michael Long; 15 treasured grandchildren; and 5 loving great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Betty Tussing and Mary Lou King.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, located at 7220 Dutch Rd., Waterville, Ohio 43566. A Memorial Mass will be held following the visitation at St. Johns XXIII, 24250 N. Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, Ohio, on Tuesday February 4, 11:30 a.m. Father McBeth will officiate.
