Patsy Ruth Ackerman, 92, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025. She was born on November 7, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of Hurbert O.Williams and Ruby E. (Clark) Jones. Ruby married Alta Jones, who helped raise Patsy. Patsy graduated from Grayville High School. She married William C. Ackerman on October 15, 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2016. Patsy was a farm wife. She attended McHenry Methodist Church and Emmanuel Church for a time. Patsy was a member of the Hawthorne Happy Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, making maple syrup, doing crafts, listening to music and square dancing when she was younger. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Patsy is survived by her children, Martha (James) Inman of McLeansboro, IL. and Steve (Terri) Ackerman of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Burson, Clarissa Ackerman, Josh (Johanna) Ackerman and Lisa Duncan; great-grandchildren, Devon Ackerman, Justice Duncan, Harrison Ackerman, Everly Ackerman and Emma Ackerman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William C. Ackerman, Patsy is preceded in death by her father, Hurbert Williams; her mother, Ruby E.Jones; her step-father, Alta Jones; and a brother, Wendell Lee Williams.
Funeral services for Patsy Ackerman will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patsy's memory to St. Joseph's Indian School, at P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD. 57326. Donations will also be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
