Jerry Eugene Owens, affectionately known as "Tooter", was born on December 27, 1949, in Austin, Texas, to the late Constance J. Owens.
He was a proud graduate of Austin High School. Jerry was an outstanding athlete and was a part of the track and field team. During his high school years he placed first in the 220 yard dash as well as part of the relay team that set a track record in the 440-relay. Jerry received a track and field scholarship to Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He would later return back to Austin, Texas, where he started out working as a printer and then eventually owning his own printing company, Owens Printing & Promotions.
He is preceded in death by his mother Constance J. Owens.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter: Carmorrian J. McDonald; grandchildren: Zachariah and Zarmorrian McMarion, Juan Sanchez, Jr., and Heavenly McDonald-Bonner; bonus children from previous marriage: Carshaolyn Briscoe-Haywood, Charles Briscoe, Jr., and Larry Williams, Jr.; aunt: Queen Owens; uncle: Charles Urdy; cousins: Sharon Owens, Billy Owens, Jr., Michael Urdy, Gregory C. Wallace, all of Austin, Sondra Norris-Alark of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of other family members and dear friends.
A special thanks to Caroline B. Jackson, his Caregiver and Stacy Davis for also assisting with his care and services.
