Kenneth Dirkson Obituary

Kenneth "Ken/Dirky" Eugene Dirkson, aged 82, of Hobson, Montana, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Lewistown, MT, surrounded by family. Born March 4, 1943 to Ray and Sylvia Dirkson, Ken was the youngest son among six kids. He graduated from Hobson High School in 1962 and married Marcella (Marcy) Pallett later that year. Together, they had two daughters, Kimberly and Stacy. Ken began his career as a telephone splicing technician and lineman in California before returning to Montana, working for Mountain Bell and later Triangle Telephone Company. He retired in 2012 after 49 years in the industry, spending his later years working on his beloved ranch. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and processing his own meat. He was known for his competitive spirit in card games, his willingness to help others, and his love for coffee and conversation at the ranch.

He was preceded in Death by his parents, Ray and Sylvia Dirkson; parents-in-law, Bill and Doris Pallett, brother Chuck Dirkson, sister-in-law Katie Dirkson, brother in-law Larry Yaeger and nieces and nephews (Laurie Anderson, Ellen Cerovski, Brent Dirkson, Brian Halverson, Roxann Howser, Dean Pallett, Betsy VanRaam, and Austin Wilson).

Ken is survived by his wife Marcy, his siblings Ted (Irene) Dirkson, Joe (Pat) Dirkson, Jerry (Sharon) Dirkson, and Diana (Brian) Zins; sisters-in-law AnnaMarie Dirkson, Betty Yaeger; brother in-law Donald (Donna) Pallett; his children Kim (Tom) Hayes and Stacy Dirkson-Leitner; his grandchildren Joe (Brandy), Pat and Ashley Hayes, and Colt Leitner; his great grandchildren Jordan Rockwell, Kennedi, and Kieran Hayes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Services for Ken will be held at Creel Funeral Home on Friday, August 15, 2025, 1:00 p.m., cremation has taken place. Inurnment to follow at the Philbrook Cemetery in Hobson followed by a reception at the Utica Hall.
