Douglas Connor Obituary

Douglas R. Connor

Deering, NH - Douglas Roger Connor, known to his loved ones as Doug, passed away on December 14, 2023, at the age of 67 in Boston, MA. He was born on June 1, 1956, in Concord, NH. Doug was a loving and devoted husband and father, who had a zest for life. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, kayaking, hiking and gardening. He cherished his trips to Kentucky during hunting season which also gave him the opportunity to visit his family. His love for the Boston Red Sox was unwavering, and he held dear the moments spent cheering on his favorite team at Fenway Park. One of his greatest joys was riding his Indian motorcycle, which he affectionately named Ruby. Most of all, time spent with his family and friends meant everything to him.

Throughout his life, Doug was a dedicated and hardworking individual, known for his reliability and willingness to help others. He served as the Manager of Facilities Services & Safety at Connection, Inc., in Merrimack, NH, where he worked for an impressive span of 36 years. In addition, Doug dedicated his time as a public servant and leader in the fire service for over 40 years which included a variety of duties such as firefighter, Assistant Chief, Acting Chief, Forest Fire Warden and EMT. He attended the Hillsborough-Deering Co-op Schools and later pursued higher education at Hawthorne College and Keene State College. He even obtained his pilot's license displaying his adventurous spirit.

Doug will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his beloved wife Celeste Connor, and his two sons, Mason and Cameron Connor. He is survived by his dear sisters, Sharon Wilkens and Janice Page, along with their husbands, Victor and Jeff. Doug's presence will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was a cherished brother-in-law to Dan Dagenais and Suzanne Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Connor. Doug leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a commitment to helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In memory of Doug and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Deering Fire & Rescue. Also, family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.

My condolences to Doug`s family. Doug was a great friend to me and many others. we had many hunting and fishing adventures over the past 40 years. Doug was a beloved member of our ice fishing team. I have attached a photo of our team in our Bob house trailer out in the middle of Lake Winnipesaukee on a very cold day.

It was truly an honor to have known and served with Dour at Connection for over 25 years.
We spent wonderful times sharing stories of our love for animals and our experiences in emergency services. Having had the opportunity to know Doug for all of these years is a blessing that will never be forgotten!
My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues during these difficult times!

I was a co-worker of Doug's for 25 years. Without a doubt, one of the nicest people I have ever met. I used to enjoy chatting with him about fishing, the outdoors, the state of Maine. When I was having trouble getting packages delivered at home he allowed me to get them delivered at work. Technically it was against the rules, but Doug would always go the extra mile. Always had a smile and a pleasant word. I had great admiration for his work as a fire fighter. The world is a lesser place with him gone. I am hoping he's scoping out a new fishing hole in heaven and smiling down on friends and family. I pray for all that loved him, he'll never be more than a whisper away. God bless you all!
