Father Will

July 11, 2015

Fr Will. It was a privilege to know you, our distant cousin from Ireland. You first met our grandfather, son of Margaret Corcoran, when he returned to Ireland in the 1950's. He was delighted to hear you were coming to NZ. You married our parents on your birthday June 22 1957 and have been a loved cousin ever since. You married and christened family members and spent many hoidays with us throughout the years in Rotorua. You loved a good joke and gave us many blessings. Sadly we said goodbye for the last time at your Requiem. You will be in heaven now, looking down on us all. Our condolences to your family in Ireland, who you always spoke so fondly of. I have some photos of your funeral and resting place and an address of Anne and John Keating to send them to. RIP Father Will from the Paepke and Shaw family.

dear uncle Will was a visitor every 5/8 years to our family home for six months vacation. He was a smiling presence and had a unique sense of humour. He encouraged healthy living with great care given to choice of food and portion size. He jogged (in shorts) on Irish country roads in the 1970s much to our childish embarrassment at the time-later we saw him as ahead of his time
He was an avid reader and encouraged that in his nieces and nephews. He loved playing cards especially 25 and we have lovely memories of card games with himself and Aunt Mary rip this spring. They were very close and on his last visit to Ireland he said "the next time we meet Mary it will be in THE KINGDOM. ".I am sitting here in Co Tipperary at 4.30am remembering the raised Kitchen table for daily mass and him choosing readers. I hold a copy of The Hobbit by JR Tolkien which he gifted me in 1971.May he rest in peace in his adopted home -his beloved New Zealand
. Love from his niece Eileen Corcoran-Acheson my brother Liam sisters Kathleen Mcgrath and Monica Fogarty have been sharing memories. Our late mother Breda took such good care of him on his visits to Ireland. He loved the sport of kings = horse racing and had a never wavering belief in God . May he be reunited with his own in The Kingdom
