Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a genuinely wonderful person. Wendy always made me feel special and was a delight whenever we bumped into each other. I'm so sorry I missed the funeral, I would have been there if I'd known sooner. My sincerest condolences to Sue and all her family. A huge loss, she'll be sorely missed. Much love, Ruth Lester-Scott

Wendy, my beautiful friend! I was so lucky to have you as a friend. You were such a kind, caring, thoughtful person. You loved helping others but struggled letting others help you. You taught me to live life to the fullest. You taught me to spend money and enjoy nice things. You taught me to wear the pretty dresses. You were so brave, so strong and even when in so much pain you still tried to make me laugh. Thank you for all the fun adventures, the movies, the drinks, the road trips, the shopping trips, the times you just hung out with me and my family. Thank you for being a great friend. I will miss you so much. Love you lots

So incredibly sad to hear the news. Wendy was a vibrant and enthusiastic teacher who loved to see the students smile and have a laugh. Her choice of books, such as "I need a new bum" had students giggling away and our senior class loved to distract her with storytelling...where they learned a lot more than they realised and where good values and common sense, as well as laughter was shared. Our sincere condolences to her family, and the community as she was actively involved.

I first met Wendy when we worked in the Zone Accounts typing pool, again at a school I was a teacher aide and then a Thursday coffee group. Wendy enjoyed life and loved to travel, her adventures were fun and had us in stitches. Wendy went out of her way to help anyone and everyone and instilled in her pupils good manners. Rest easy now knowing your family gave you a lovely send off.

Condolences to the family. I knew Wendy for many years. She was always so full of life and so very generous and giving - such a caring and gorgeous person. Not to mention her stories - guaranteed to end up in a fit of giggles no matter how you were feeling, she just had a knack of bringing joy. My heart is heavy at the thought of her loss and wish I´d reached out to her in recent years. I can hear her voice and a story now - rest easy now and don´t take the Mickey out of the big guy too much chick!... Sorely missed, in sadness much love Steph

As an old native once said to me: "Observe the Whanau Marama, the Children of Light on the breast of the Sky Parent. They know not decay or death, they live for ever; they are unlike the people of this world; man is born but to be caught in the snare of Hine." So it is that, when a person dies, an old saying of the Maori folk is quoted: "Me tangi, kapa ko te mate i te marama" (Let us mourn and weep for him, for truly he dieth not as the moon dies).

I was at Girls High with Wendy and then we ended up working at two work places together. We met up more recently too. Her bright personality always shone through. A sad loss for the family and everyone concerned.
