It was with deep sadness that I learned of Shirley´s passing. We first dated back in high school, and later we shared 21 years of marriage together. That was almost a third of our lives, and although we eventually went our own ways, those years were filled with so many memories - moments with family, times with friends, and the everyday life we once shared.
Even after our lives moved in different directions, I always remembered Shirley with affection. I was genuinely happy for her when she found love and companionship with Graeme. Over the years, family would share news about her, and I was always glad to hear she was doing well. That made the news of her sudden passing so sad and unexpected.
Watching her service, hearing the touching words from her nieces and nephews, and seeing those wonderful photos was both moving and bittersweet. It reminded me of the person she was - warm, loving, and full of life.
My heart goes out to her family at this difficult time. Though she has left us far too soon, Shirley´s memory will always live on in the hearts of those who loved her - including mine.
