Ronald "Ron" WIN

Ronald WIN Obituary

24 December 1955 – 14 March 2025

A treasured husband, Pa, Poppa, brother and friend. Ron died peacefully, with those he loved holding him close. He was a wise and gentle man with a passion and talent for many things. Ron cherished his darling Amanda and treasured being Pa to Emily, Jon, Hazel and their partners Craig, Jess, Kurt. He adored being a Poppa to Poppy & Holly, Summer & Morrie, and Bella & Neve.
As Ron wished, a private family gathering is being held. Ron believed the future holds a cure for cancer. If you wish to support work in this field please donate to the NZ Brain Tumor Trust – www.nzbtt.org.nz

Great sadness to hear of Ron´s death. He took the cricket and hockey team when I was school. I am eternally grateful for his assistance. After school I was fortunate to play with him in the above sporting codes and basketball. He was one of the good guys in life. He will be sadly missed. Thinking of the family at this most difficult of times.

A diligent, fair, loyal team man whether on the cricket or hockey sports' fields. Ron always played fair, gave his best and contributed to the various clubs in Marton. My favourite memory involved his first [& only] century for Suburbs, celebrated with a minimum of fuss. His unassumed modesty also was reflected in the efforts he put into coaching hockey and cricket at Rangitikei College where so many students benefitted from his tireless and calm nature. Thanks for the comradeship, Ron.

My sincere condolences to Mandy and family.
