Robert John Merritt passed away peacefully on Friday 6th February 2026 at Summerset on Summerhill Care Home, aged 89 years old. A devoted all-weather supporter of the Manawatū Turbos, Bob's love of the green and white never faded, no matter the score or the season. Bob has now returned to his beloved Beverley, reunited after time apart, a comfort to those who knew how deeply that love was held. The family extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Summerset on Summerhill for the care, kindness, and dignity shown to Bob during his time there. Your compassion did not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Wednesday 11th February at 12.30pm in The Lychway Funeral Directors Chapel, 5 Roy Street, Palmerston North, and those attending are warmly invited to wear something green in honour of Bob's enduring support for the Manawatū Turbos.
