Rex HARRIS Obituary

Rex left us in the early hours of 3rd December 2023 at home in Feilding, in his 90th year. Dearly loved husband of Val and first wife Peggy (dec), and loved father and father-in-law of Colin, Anne, Jon and Kate, Janine and Simon. Proud Grandfather of Ben, Daniel, Ashley, Tim and Lucy. Beloved stepfather of Michael, Stephen and Debbie, and families. Rex will be farewelled at St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Camden Street, Feilding, tomorrow Wednesday 6th December at 1.00pm, followed by Interment at Sandon Cemetery, Sanson. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed at www.williamcotton.co.nz/tributes. In lieu of flowers, donations to Arohanui Hospice via www.arohanuihospice.org.nz/donate-now would be appreciated.

I will forever remember Rex to be a positive and lighthearted force of kindness from first to final memory, no matter his circumstances. Always equipped with a story and a joke in his arsenal before any family function, it was always a pleasure to sit to his left (the good ear!) and hear tales of the wartime experience or gags about strangers walking into a bar.

My most cherished memory was that of Rex and Val's wedding day. Such a touching moment for me as a youngster to see them find new love and go on a new adventure together. You will be missed Rex.
