Oh my, Joy. What a shock as I was looking for Ralphs email. None of us old Newman House folks knew. It makes me so sad.
I knew of your marriage and two children,... and Im sad for all of you.
I lived in community with Ralph at Western Illinois University at the Catholic Student House. Id seen him several times when he would return to the US. He wrote me about Hohepa and Lily.
If you read this, please email me, Joy! [email protected]
Id love to be in contact with you.

My deepest condolences to the entire family.
I was shocked and saddened to hear this. He was my professor in Massey in 2003-2004. I still remember his amazing classes and I still share the experiences to all. I am greatly honored and proud to be his student. May his soul rest in peace.

Ralph, I always looked forward to bumping in to you somewhere at a conference or somewhere in New Zealand. You were always so pleasant and glad to see me, and so gracious. You were always happy and modest in talking about your research or interested in what I was doing and always said good things about other colleagues and friends. I miss that so very much. We were all honoured to have known you Ralph. I am so sad. We all miss you Ralph.

Ralph and my late husband Peter Frost were friends and colleagues at UBC. We went to visit him in Dunedin where they collaborated on a project and Ralph showed us the the beauty of Dunedin and surrounding area. Peter spoke highly of Ralph, as a good friend and exceptional scholar.
My deep condolences to his wife and family.

Very sad to hear this news. I saw Ralph last year at Massey and he was his usual cheerful pragmatic self still enjoying the wonderful NZ outdoors. He was a wonderful colleague and will be missed from the academic community.

I am sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. I met him at ANZAM conferences and he left a lasting impression. His passion for research and the willingness to share his knowledge I will never forget. It was only recently that I returned to some notes I had made during a seminar with Ralph some years ago - what he said has great relevance to a project I am working on here in the Middle East. His advice will be enduring and meaningful. His passing has left a large gap in the academic community

I was one of his students in research methods at Massey Uni in 2002 and he had a profound effect on me as a student and now a researcher. He gave us valuable insights, challenged our thoughts. He did not want us to settle for mediocrity. I am honored to have been tutored by him. My deep condolences to his wife and family. May Professor Ralph rest in peace in heaven.

Have just heard the news. Ralph was a massively talented academic; authentic and sincere. He was a true intellectual and by all accounts a great teacher. Beyond that, a first rate human being who I always admired and enjoyed interacting with. A great shame.
On behalf of Ralph's academic colleagues at Victoria University sincerely condolences to family and friendd.

To Ralph's family and close friends.
I learnt today of Ralph's passing, with great sadness. Ralph invested much time in me early on in my PhD journey. Looking back, his wise counsel was material to my current work and outlook on life.
In life, thank you Ralph.
In death, we mourn but say thank you.
May God bless your soul and those close to you.

Dear Joy, Have just heard that Ralph had passed away. Please accept my sincere and deepest condolences. He was highly regarded by those who knew him at Massey University and I could not have engaged a more competent and capable person to head the Doctorate in Business and Administration programme. His academic leadership in that role was brilliant. May he now rest in peace in the Lord's embrace.

I have just now heard about Ralph's passing, which has saddened me enormously. Ralph was kind and supportive to me when I moved to Lincoln in 2003, and was instrumental in introducing me to Martin Devlin and Bev Edlin, both of whom have been influential upon me.
Ralph and I generally met in passing at the Academy over the years and we often remarked that it was easier for us to meet there than ‘back home'. He always had a smile and a piece of sage advice whenever I saw him. I don't think I need to tell you that he was a calm, wise and warm human being.
My profoundest condolences to you and your whanau on your loss.
