NORTHMORELAND TWP. — Peter Scutt, 88, of Northmoreland Township, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Nov. 1, 1934, in Plains Township, to James and Nettie Rock Scutt.
Peter was an avid baseball player, and during his youth he attended the Johnstown Pa. games in 1952.
Furthermore, Peter was a passionate whitetail hunter, and outdoor enthusiast and hunted for more than 75 years. Many of those years were spent with his best hunting buddy and nephew, James Scutt III (aka Buck Rub). Pete had a love of gardening and most days during the nice weather you would find him every day, all day working in his beloved garden. He had a great sense of humor, not only could he recognize the value in making others laugh, but prioritized laughter for himself, and as a result, he was healthier and happier for it. Pete was employed by BF Goodrich for 38 years until his retirement, and then continued working in landscaping for the next 12 years with his brother Jim.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Thomas Scutt; brothers James and Thomas Scutt; and sister Mary Scutt Magyar.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy Eaton, Tunkhannock; Patricia Dale, West Pittston; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren. A Funeral Panahida Service will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 at the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains 18705. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, with funeral services immediately following from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with Rev Michael Evans officiating.
Interment in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
