WATENE, Maureen Stella
(nee MacKenzie):
Of Palmerston North. On Sunday 26th July 2015, peacefully at Chiswick Park Rest Home. Aged 84 years. Loved wife of the late Phil. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Sabrina and Doug (deceased), Peter and Rebecca, Mark and Julie, John (deceased) and Vivian, Paul and Sandra, Shelley, and David. Loved Nana of her 23 grandchildren and her 14 Great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a donation made to St John, PO Box 1794 Palmerston North 4440, or may be left in the chapel foyer. Messages to the Watene family C/- PO Box 5191 Palmerston North 4441. A service for Maureen will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North on Monday 3rd August 2015 at 11.00am. Followed by interment at Kelvin Grove Lawn Cemetery.

We are sad to hear of Maureen's death. She was a cousin and longtime friend of the Lima girls. We visited many times when we came to Palmerston North. Our deepest condolences to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as she leaves a hole in our hearts she used to fill. To my beautiful Watene whanau. My condolences go out to you all at this heartfelt time. Our hearts feel as heavy as yours. The hurt, the pain and sorrow will never go away, but just remember: Families are forever. We will miss you Aunty Maureen. I am so glad you met my son when he was 2 months old. A long time member of the Anglican Social Work Trust Friendship Group who was a very sharp Scrabble player. A lovely lady who was very proud of her family. You are often spoken of at the Friendship Centre although you haven't been well enough to attend for some time now. R.I.P. Maureen xxx
