Margaret TATE Obituary

As a historian Margaret did so much for the city especially I remember her work on the Savage Crescent - State Housing Precinct. She interviewed my late father (blind) Jack Shortt as he was one of the oldest surviving residents of Savage Crescent and only two days ago I was listening to Margaret take the broadcaster of Spectrum Jack Perkins on a tour around the Crescent meeting with the residents and giving him the history of the Precinct. Dedicated folks like Margaret are few and far between but we must thank her for her dedication to the history of our wonderful city on the banks of our Mighty Manawatu Her legacy is recorded in our history. Thank you Margaret it was wonderful knowing you and albeit it very small part working with you and my Dad on Savage Crescent.
