Malvin O. "Butch" Lingenfelter, 78, DuBois, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Penn Highlands in DuBois.
He was born September 20, 1947, in Reynoldsville, a son of the late Thomas and Edith (Clontz) Lingenfelter.
He was a 1967 graduate of DAHS. Malvin enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1967 as a Combat Engineer. Malvin served from 1967 to 1973 and did two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal with "V" Device, Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citational and Vietnam Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Butch obtained the rank of Sergent upon being Honorably discharged. Upon leaving the Marine Corp., Butch was a truck driver for 30 years.
Butch is survived by four children Candy (Joe) Graves of Florida, Laurie Lingenfelter, Ronald (Tascha) Lingenfelter and Julie (Dan) Rosner all of RI, two sisters, Helen Lingenfelter and Addie Heberling, both of DuBois, two brothers, Edward (Cindy) Lingenfelter of Leechburg and Albert LeRoy Lingenfelter of Sheffield, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, Butch was also preceded in death by a sister Iva Stockdale and two brothers Thomas and William.
Public visitation for Malvin "Butch" Lingenfelter will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. A service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the Soldiers Circle at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.
