BOYLE, Most Reverend Leonard Anthony DD:
Emeritus Bishop of Dunedin. Peacefully at Little Sisters of the Poor, Sacred Heart Home, Brockville, Dunedin. On June 1, 2016. Aged 85 years. Loved son of the late Francis and Catherine Boyle. Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Wattie and Norah; loved uncle to Danny and Heather, Margaret and John Neylon, Leo, the late Kath and the late Ross Stewart, Simon and Trish. Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Eddie and Anita and loved uncle to the late Terry. Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Jack and Marie and loved uncle to Justin and Genevieve, David and Jessica, Stacy and Peter Curnow, Andrew and Aileen; Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Frank and Margaret and loved uncle to Frances, Rosemary Cosgrove, Peter and Therese, Kevin and Suzanne, Chris and Isabelle; Loved brother and brother-in-law of Eileen and the late Vincent; loved uncle to Mark, Greg and Sue, Steve and Joanne, Ray and Liz, Maureen and Gary Deuchrass, Brendan and Jane, Cushla and Steven Nichol, Jane Boyle; Loved brother and brother-in-law of Cliff and the late Margaret; loved uncle to Paul, John and Karin, Matt and Robyn, Tim and Robyn; Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Patricia and Fergus McCallum; loved uncle to Catherine and Jeffrey Morrison, Paul and Jane McCallum, Maria and Terry Harris. Loved brother of the late Margaret. Much loved, respected and admired by all his extended family, friends and brother Priests. Bishop Len will be lying in State at the Chapel of the Little Sisters of the Poor, 295 Brockville Road, Dunedin from Friday June 3, 2016. Evening Prayer of the Church will be held in St Joseph's Cathedral Rattray Street, Dunedin on Tuesday, June 7 at 7.00 pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Joseph's Cathedral, Rattray Street, Dunedin, on Wednesday, June 8 at 11.00 am. A further Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Mary's Basilica, Tyne Street, Invercargill on Thursday, June 9 at 11.00 am followed by burial at Wrey's Bush Cemetery. Rest in peace dear Len Boyle. I remember being very honored to be one of many at Bishop Len's Ordination in the Town Hall. His rousing final hymn Lift High the Cross will always remind me of special thoughts of that occasion and Bishop Boyle. R.I.P.
