Kjell WESTERBERG Obituary

Born 25 October 1950 in Helsinki, Finland, of Swedish and NZ nationality, passed away at Arohanui Hospice on 7 February 2025 at 7.00pm, surrounded by his wife Virginia and his son Niklas. A gifted and dedicated medical specialist, Kjell pioneered MRI and Teleradiology in Europe. Kjell worked as a radiologist in Scandinavia, the UK, Spain, Australia, and in Palmerston North for 15 years. He was also a much appreciated pilot at the Feilding Flying Club, his second home. Kjell will be forever loved and remembered by wife Virginia and all her family, sons Niklas and Daniel and their mom Marika, granddaughters Judith and Agnes, siblings Kristian and Elisabeth, and by his extended family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. His kindness, generosity and multiple talents were all driven by the love he put in everything he did. As per Kjell's wishes, a memorial service will be held at the Feilding Flying Club, Feilding Aerodrome, Campbell Road, Taonui on Saturday, 15 February 2025, at 2.00pm.

I worked with Kjell a couple of years at the radiologic department at the hospital in Karlskoga Sweden. He took me up in his plane several times and we had lovely flights.
Regrettably we lost contacts when he mooved on to unknown areas.

Thank you cousin, for a life well lived. With your work you helped and saved many, many lives (I don't have a figure) and advanced medical science. Our roads seldom crossed, but the mutual admiration and respect we created for each other remains with me. I, and countless of others thank you for having lived and enriched our lives.

Dear Virginia and family. We will miss Kjell so very much at work. He was so very much well respected and liked by us all, giving of his time and knowledge. It certainly won't be the same around here without him.
Sending you our thoughts and love at this most difficult time.

I met Kjell through his wife Virginia and he became a good friend. I will especially remember him for his big hugs and for always smiling! He was a very active, friendly man and will be greatly missed by many. He lives on through all the good memories we have but I miss him being here. My heart goes out to Virginia and I hope that all of us who love her can help and support her with her great loss
