Many years ago John helped my parents navigate a difficult therapeutic journey. I was 12 to 18 years old during that period. On occasions I would be invited into the room and although the experience was often bewildering I understood that out of these sessions a more harmonious family life was emerging.
John would often respond to my letters to him when, after leaving home, I was struggling to make sense of the world. I still have those letters and I read them from time to time because they are as relevant now as they were then.
I read one of them to my daughter on the day of her 21st birthday.
So to Johns family and friends I would like you to know he certainly made a real contribution to me and my family.
I am currently writing a book on my parents therapeutic journey and I would love to hear from anyone who knew John or worked with him during those times at Manaaroa.

He was a fine, empathetic therapist. He helped me through terrible times, and opened up my life. I am still learning from his insights.
