John Alan SLATER

John SLATER Obituary

John, age 69, passed away peacefully at Ryder Cheshire Home in Palmerston North on 2nd January 2024. Middle son of Marge and Alan (both deceased), late of Stratford and Palmerston North. Brother of Lynn, Graham, Kevin, Anne, Noeline, Helen and Michael. A service to commemorate John's life will be held at Ryder Cheshire, 114 Te Awe Awe Street, today, Thursday 4th January at 1.30pm. John's family sincerely like to thank the staff and residents at Ryder Cheshire Home for all they did for John. Also, to acknowledge the support from PN Hospice. In lieu of flowers please send donations to rydershiremanawatu.org.nz.

Sad to hear this News.
I have fond memories of John whilst working at Summerset Aokautere.
John would wait by the door and greet me before my shifts started, with a cheeky grin saying 'oh no' as if he meant "not you again" in a teasing way.
It made me laugh.
We spent many suppers watching tv together and I almost fell off my chair when he learnt to say my name.
John was an absolute sweetheart and a pleasure to be around.
He still holds a special place in my heart.
My condolences to the Slater family,
John was one of a kind and I'm sure he will be terribly missed
