John DAVEY Obituary

26 May 1954 – 10 June 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Lester Davey, aged 71, on Tuesday 10th June 2025. John died peacefully, surrounded by his family and flowers from his garden. John was the best friend and devoted partner to his wife Cynthia, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and deep connection. He was a much-loved father to his son Emmett and daughters Melissa, Amy, and Sophie, a proud grandfather to Ffion and Aiden, and father-in-law to Séan and Mat. John dedicated his professional life to supporting others first as a social worker, then a family therapist in Palmerston North. Later, he embraced his love for the natural world, becoming a nursery owner and landscape designer with a deep passion for trees and flowering perennials. Together with Cynthia, John brought to life two gardens, Awahou, in the Pohangina Valley, and another in Ã?taki. The family extends their sincere thanks and gratitude to the teams at Arohanui Hospice in Palmerston North and Horowhenua Masonic Village for their care and support in John's final days. In lieu of floral tributes, donations in John's memory may be made to Arohanui Hospice, Palmerston North.
