I only just learned of your passing, John. You were such a joy and inspiration to so many students. You really made us feel like we could do anything, and you've influenced my journey as a tradesperson and in the way I teach my own children. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to share this with you while you were alive; time passes so quickly.

I often find myself singing "Proud Mary" or "Bad Moon Rising" on my commute and think of you with your guitar. Keep jamming it up in the good place; until we meet again some day.

I have been so blessed to have been part of your remarkable life together Jenny and John. So many amazing meals shared , holidays where I sat in the front seat of the car , Jenny driving and John happily in the back seat playing guitar. For all the music times shared . I am lucky and grateful to call you treasured friends. I will always keep you close. You are so loved. Barley

Deeply saddened by the passing of John. A really good man and friend to many. John was a colleague at Devon Intermediate and I will always remember him as a great teacher and a fun guy to work with. He was a proud and loving family man who took great pride in all his families achievements. He was understated as a teacher and bought much more to the role than many people realised. Students recognised this and felt safe and comfortable seeking his guidance and counsel, particularly those who found solace through his shared love of music.
Nothing was ever too much trouble to John. He was already to give a hand and contribute to the wider life of the school.
So many areas in which he went the extra mile - too many to enumerate. But an enthusiastic soccer coach, keen technology challenge administrator, a happy camper and fervent believer in our sports trips and school exchanges.
I hold the deepest admiration for John as a teacher and work colleague, and will miss him.
Those we love will never leave us ; they live on in our memories as long as we remember them, talk of them and remember all they meant to us.
Rest well, John.
Always remembered ; Richard and Judy
