Burton "Burt" Mawhorter, 84, formerly of Shipshewana, passed away peacefully at 7:35 am on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Park Place Senior Living, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, Jan. 12, also at the funeral home.

"Burt" and his dear wife Becky would visit our neighbor Trent Miller, their son in Marysville, Ohio. Burt was a very interesting human, ambitious and compassionate and it was just an honor to know him. God rest his soul. May God be with his dear family and bring them comfort and peace.

Becky so sorry to see this of Burt passing. He was always so soft spoken. I go to Florida for the winters also. Dont like cold weather.
