Sorry I heard very belatedly about John's death. Unfortunately I don't read newspapers and often don't read emails. He was a brilliant pilot, a good friend, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Our deepest sympathy to Jane and the family. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences on John's passing. I share many fond memories of our time as teenagers in the 60s

I first met John on my first day at College House at Palmy Boys' - he was in the top bunk in our dormitory and I was in the bottom bunk (bunks were allocated in alphabetical order).

We spent a number of holidays together during our school days. Among my memories is clocking 100 MILES per hour down the Cheltenham Hill in John's mother's green Mini (no seat belts!! and we would have only been 15 years old) and John teaching me to water ski at Acacia Bay. I remember the farm house fondly - high ceilings and a fire in the kitchen to warm us all, and the motherless lambs. As a high country kid I marvelled at the fact that John could do a lambing beat on foot, rather than on horseback.

I won't be able to attend John's funeral but my thoughts will be with you all.
