Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania - Jerrold "Jerry" Maddox, 93, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 6, 1932, in Fort Wayne, IN he was the son of the late Warren B and Vira Austin Maddox. On May 4, 1986 he married Mary D Watson, who survives.

He is survived by three children, Gillian Brose of Cambridge, MA, Martha Maddox of Jackson, WY, and Austin Maddox and his wife, Melody, of Frankfurt, KY; and his beloved friends, Dean and Rebecca Lerner. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Weinheimer.

Jerrold earned his master's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. Upon graduation, he began his career enriching minds and developing creative artists. He was a professor of painting and drawing at several colleges across the country; Indiana University, Reed College in Oregon, Kansas State University and Amherst. Jerry was a dedicated educator who so enjoyed his interactions with students and colleagues that he didn't retire until the age of 90!

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Jerry was a dedicated yoga practitioner since 1986.
