Jean BURGESS Obituary

BURGESS,
Jean Alison Marina:
Died suddenly on Monday 6th February, 2023 at Palmerston North Hospital, aged 88 years. Best friend and soulmate of the late Barry. Treasured and loving mother of Maryann, Shaun (deceased), Veronica and Owen Cole, Virginia and Lee Johnson, Colleen, and Belinda. Adored and cherished confidante to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private celebration of Mum's precious life was held recently as per her wishes. Thank you to all those who gave us much needed love and support. A special thank you to her wonderful neighbours for their support, Bronny and Leo, Paul and family, and Adele and family. She truly treasured you all. Thank you also to the doctors and nurses at Palmerston North Hospital especially Kira (Opal Ward), who lovingly cared for Mum and our family during her most difficult time.
Our mother kept a garden
A garden of the heart
She planted all the good things
That gave our life its start
She turned us to the sunshine
And encouraged us to dream
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self esteem
And when the winds and rains came
She protected us enough
But not too much she knew we'd need
To stand up strong and tough
Her constant good example
Always taught us right from wrong
Markers for our pathway
To last our whole life long
We are our mother's garden
We are her legacy
And hope today she feels the love
Reflected back from us.

Hello gran , it´s almost been a year since you passed away. It hasn´t been the same without you around. It was the first Christmas without going to your house and all the family coming round to spend time with each other and making memories and having very yum food that you cook. I will always miss you gran I´ll always miss the times I say boo and you get scared but you do it as a joke sometimes, I´ll always miss everything about you gran. I hope you´re happy with grandad and uncle Shawn in heaven and watching down on us I love and miss you gran.

I didn't know that day, that God was going to call your name.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I do the same. It broke my heart to lose you, you didn't go alone: for part of me went with you, they day God called you home. You left me beautiful memories, your love is still my guide and though I cannot see you, I know you're by my side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing is the same, but, as God calls us one by one, our chain will link again.

The precious heart of our family has stopped beating.
We Love you and miss you so much ma.
