Rongotea and Palmerston North are richer for Ivan's presence. Ivan and Jen were givers. The Lions Clubs of Rongotea and Fitzherbert were rewarded by Ivan's contribution.

Mr Gore was my standard 2 teacher at Terrace End School.

A memory I have is of Mr Gore issuing Goods Awards to well behaved pupils. These awards were issued on thin slips of paper and could be redeemed for small gifts.

I also remember Tuesday mornings well - this was cardboard day, in which we'd make cardboard planes, cubes and whatnot. Scoring cardboard with scissors and rulers. Tabs. Glue. So much glue! Admittedly my creations tended to be unsuccessful for the most part, but all the same, it was such fun - Mr Gore made it that way.

He was a great teacher who genuinely cared for his students and their well-being.

After Mr Gore left Terrace End we exchanged a couple of letters - even though we lived in the same city! His handwriting was beautiful.

Thanks for the memories Mr Gore. Rest In Peace.
