I worked for Hester for the first time in 1997 and for 20 years after I worked on and off for Hester. She was a powerhouse and at the top of her game always. My favorite memories was watching Hester do demonstrations, starting with raw product and turning it into a mouthwatering dish. I also remember how bad of a driver you were, driving down Featherston street in 3rd gear and her wondering why the motor was revving its guts out.You were a hard task master at times but so very generous with your knowledge and my own passion for cooking was always inspired by you. To your whanau my dearest condolences

Many fun memories and good laughs to always remember you by Hester. You taught me so much and I will always treasure your recipes given to me over the years. I always think of you when making them and smile remembering crazy good things we did together. Hiding under desks from you and laughing out loud when you said Lavatory Paper in place of Loo Roll. Working with you was never a dull moment, your passion and expertise was always an inspiration and the final result always beautiful. I´ll never forget you Hester, may you be at rest now.

I have fond memories of Hester when in careless days she offered cooking classes from her house in Kingston Road, Shannon. We would arrive from Palmerston North around 10am and she would have something for morning tea. She would then do a meal which we got to sample, really yummy. I also bought meals from the Eatery in Princess Street. She also came to my rescue when my daughter had surprise wedding giving me a weeks notice by catering and providing staff. A very lovely lady. My dear friend Hester. I nicknamed you aunty Hesterical for the many times we worked together. You knew your plan while those around the kitchen had to be able to read your mind or be very quick at moving with you. We worked hard and at the end of a wedding or fancy event, you would be calm and simply say 'not a problem' . The guests were always delighted with your delicious fare and smooth organisation. Your taught me so much while I shared much of my life during many chats with you. I cherished our day together not so long ago. I know Antone 'darling' is waiting in the garden for you to join him. My respect to you always and love to all your loving whanau.
