Mary was an active and valued member of Graduate Women Manawatu (formerly Federation of Graduate Women Manawatu Branch) for many years, serving on the committee as well as being a trustee on the GWM Trust Board (academic regalia hire). Mary was always calm and polite. She listened to discussions carefully and provided wise counsel, displaying great integrity. She was very supportive of other members, especially those in leadership positions. She and I also enjoyed talking about the joys of being geography teachers and heads of departments. Mary was a very genuine and empathetic friend.
