I just heard the sad news that Guy passed away. I couldn't resist posting this photo of Guy and me back in February 1976 on my family's farm. We were close friends and living in Rangiotu in the Manawatu at the time. It's a shame we lost touch down the years., but my memories of that happy time in the '70s are still strong!

What sad sad news. Just decided to look up the net to see if I could find an old school friend..to find that you are gone and hear all the kind words is a real shock. To find you were back in NZ and we could have caught up and now you are gone. My loss for not having stayed in touch. All the kind things on here are what I remembered of you from school. The world is a poorer place. Kia kaha.

Big shock to hear of the passing of my PNBHS school friend, Guy. Now remembering those many nights at The Majestic in Palmy having to buy a bowl of chips in order to buy drinks and you always wearing black jeans even in the height of summer. Happy days! Rest well big man.

To Guy's family, relatives and friends

Still in shock about Guy's passing but I'm proud and had the pleasure of being his mate and colleague for the last 10 years at Ealing Council. We were in the same team for most of this time!

I draw strength from the good times we've had in London both within and outside of work. Guy is someone who will listen and often I used him as sounding board. His advice and opinions on wide ranging matters were invaluable, and more recently with his expert swimming tips. His support and presence, and subsequent feedback, as he like to call it, for my first long distance swim were both motivational and inspirational.

My family got to know him and my kids always joke about 'are you going to pub with Guy and Mac. Our last drink with Guy was in one of his favourite pubs in Ealing, though he hates the long walk up. We always can entice Guy with a few beers, curry and a lift home to Hanwell.

Mate, I've enjoyed your company, your kind words and wisdom and your anecdotes.

Big man, you are now free, go find peace,
RIP
Andy

A quiet, unassuming gentleman. Warm, considerate and witty.
Never one to make a show – but always one to have an impact – that was Guy's way - the right way!
Miss the Friday after work drinks at ‘our' local. Will raise a glass to you and wish all your family well through this painful time.
RIP Guy.

Really shocked to hear of Guy's passing. He was warm, funny and kind. I used to particularly enjoy his quick wit (quite often being on the receiving end of it), and talking about books, music and past and potential travels. A big loss.

It was with great sadness that I learnt about the death of Guy. We would often meet in tthe lift on our way into work at London Borough of Ealing – with him clutching his customary paper cup of 'something hot'. Please accept my sympathy for your sad loss.

Shocked to hear of Guy's death. I saw Guy frequently at Ealing Council and always enjoyed a chat. Guy was a real 'glass half full' kind of bloke. Always positive and humerous. Already missed in the UK, even more so now.

I was very shocked to hear about Guys passing over the weekend. While I worked with him in Ealing he was nothing but kind, warm and welcoming and we often spent far too much time at work chatting rather than working. He will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace Guy

There was a place on my walk home from work that I used to cross paths with Guy. Since he left London to go back to NZ I've felt a pang each time I reached that spot. But now it will be an ache. Miss you, xo Nora

Man, so many memories... from when we were just little, kicking around in our roman sandals (or preferably bare feet), to the mirth, merriment and mischief when we were all studying in Palmy, to most recently when we had that great curry in Ealing before you headed back to NZ! Well cuz, I guess I won't be seeing you when I get home next.
Uncle Don, Odie and everyone else back home, we send all our love and despite the distance we are right there next to you always xx
