Gordon McDONALD Obituary

H598191, WO1, RNZEME, NZ Army
Passed away peacefully aged 85 years, at Palmerston North Hospital after a short illness, on Tuesday 14 April 2026: the day that you Bruce, surrounded by family, chose to stand down, accept your angel wings and fly high. Bruce is now at peace. Dearly loved soulmate, friend and partner of Lynne for the past 25 years. Loved stepfather and grandfather of Lynne's girls and grandchildren. Loved brother of Jeannette and Eric (deceased), Cynthia and Maurice (both deceased), Kevin (deceased) and Marie, Kaye and Colin (deceased). Much loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews, and their partners. Loved adopted Dad of Jo, and Grandad of Danielle (both in Australia). A great mate to many: "one of the good buggers", "a kauri tree has fallen", and the 'Sappers' have lost another WO1. Messages for Bruce's family may be left via robertjcotton.co.nz/funerals. In lieu of flowers, donations to arohanuihospice.org.nz or stjohn.org.nz would be greatly appreciated. A service to celebrate Bruce's life will be held in the Cotton's Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Tuesday 21 April 2026, at 1.00pm, followed by private cremation.
