Averill, Vanessa, Grant, Celeste and Justine,
As time passed I anticipated this time would come, Vanessa told me of his exposure to the chemicals in Vietnam, and it angered me that our military men were subjected to such atrocities they could not or were not aware of. The briefness of our relationship did not parallel my admiration for this man. Although frail, he held such great mana in me and I'm sure many others, his smile and quick-wittedness were infectious. It was humbling to know George (Mr Kereama). I remember his extreme pride in his Marae, and I'm sure he had unfinished plans.

Kia ora Averill and whanau,
We are deeply saddened to hear of George's passing. It was a real honour to have met George, and of course mum has known George since before you were both married. As a boys' high school teacher, I am proud to discuss men like George as role models who have achieved great success. He certainly is an example of someone who has shown great service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With love, Arohanui,

Rest in peace George,
It was an honour to have served with you in Support Company 6 RAR/NZ (ANZAC) October 1969 to May 1970. I was the Signals Platoon Commander and knew that when I was out on operations, the reliable Company 2IC was in the background keeping the wheels turning.

Averil,it´s Randy Scott of Taihape here ,and the passing of George is of high emotion, and the road will be little more bumpy today .He was a man of deep character ,and embellished with a shield of hardened tungsten ;some would call it : honour. His dignity flowed easily from his person , the complete ancient Spartan warrior,he would have been happy to be at Thermopylae ,the finest example of his Maori race ,I was a lucky one to know him.Go lightly George in the white of the mountains, you will dazzle in the light ,and be amongst great companions, for you are a great human being. Aroha is whispering to me now ,your will ,your empathy is eternal , you have done us proud,Feilding Ag has lost a true champion.
