As a little girl, one of the first "life lessons" I remember Nan telling me was, "It´s always better to be overdressed than underdressed." She always had great style and something I´ll always remember about her!
When I think of Nan, what comes to mind is her devotion to her family, the way she carried herself with such grace, and how she truly loved (and spoiled) her many pets.
There are so many little things that remind me of her that I know she´s passed onto me! Just a few - the appreciation of a good manicure (and a rose-scented hand cream), and always adding a splash of leopard print to my wardrobe.
As I´ve gotten older, and especially since becoming a mum, I appreciate her resilience and quiet strength - how she managed to raise five kids (many years on her own). In moments of overwhelm, when I´ve been in the thick of being a single mum, I often think of her and find comfort knowing I come from a long line of strong women.
She will be so missed. We were so lucky to have had her.
