Evan WATERS Obituary

Went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2024. Aged 92 and 6 days. Much loved, surrounded by family. Dearly loved husband of the late Joy. Treasured father and father-in-law of Trish and Gary Shirley, Bruce and Mandi,and David and Pushpa. Dearly loved grandad and great-grandad. Special friend to many. A celebration of Evan's life will be held at Betts Funeral Services, 33 North Street, on Wednesday, June 26 at 1.00pm, followed by a burial at the Timaru Cemetery. Messages: C/o 81 Otipua Road, Timaru 7910.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Evan a few years ago and made some notes for Forest and Bird that was published in the Timaru Herald. I was impressed by his wonderful memory and dedication to conservation from a very young age.

He was indeed a special friend to many. Always welcoming to everybody with lots of wisdom and stories we all loved to hear, throw in several chuckles and that was Evan. Will always be remembered with love and fondness. Our sincerest love and sympathy to all the family.
