Edna YOUNG Obituary

My sincere sympathy to the Young Family. It was a pleasure to have known Edna and Ivan through the grocery trade.

I was fortunate to have connected with Edna after coming across her online query regarding Ivan´s long lost aunt and my maternal grandmother, Ada Beatrice Young in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada where I still live.

Throughout the next twenty years, we exchanged email, cards, letters, photos and genealogical information to help each other complete the Young branch of our family trees, and kept in touch sharing ongoing news, events, and of course her annual Christmas letter.

I was honoured to be invited to the family holiday house in Taupo, but life continually had other plans for me, so although we never met in person I developed a deep affection and respect for her.

Edna was kind and generous, both nurturing, and nurtured by, her loving family. She is the epitome of a life well-lived! She touched my heart, and I picture her now smiling and having a grand time visiting with all of the "rellies" who have long since passed.

Our sincere condolences to you all, Edna will be greatly missed and is now with Ivan. We have fond memories of both.

What a wonderful lady she was. She and Ivan were great bosses and I loved working for them. Thinking if you all at this time.

To all the Young family. I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your lovely mum. I have very fond memories of working together at New World. Both Ivan and Edna were incredible bosses and made staff feel like family. I particularly loved her sharp wit - we had lots of laughs. She was very much the matriarch of your family and I know you will all miss her so much. All my love to you all. Rest peacefully Edna, go and be with your beloved Ivan.

So sorry to read of Edna's passing. Fond memories of Edna at Feilding Ag High School, Golf Club and NWld when we lived in Feilding 18+ yrs ago.

Ian, Neil, Angela and family. So sad to hear of your sad loss. Mrs Young and I have sent Christmas cards to each other for years and years and I´ve always loved keeping in touch. RIP Mrs Young, fondly remembered. Bev x

We will always appreciate the contribution Edna made to the Knight Family Heritage Society with her family genealogy knowledge being exemplary.
Her generosity of opening her Taupo home to us for the many meetings we had was very special. We all loved our fun filled cousin with her keen mind and wit. Our deepest sympathy to all the family.

It was such a privilege to know and be advised by Edna when researching 'Knights from Cornwall' as she was so generous in sharing her family history knowledge - at the Knight Taupo gatherings, in person and by email. These were times to remember and treasure and I would like to extend my sympathy to Edna's family.

Dearest Aunty Edna - such wonderful blessings for you - we just loved our weekends with the Knight family in Taupo - i kept you in such high esteem for your great love of family beautiful hand written cards love of history RIPxx

It was a pleasure to know Edna and we sympathized with each other after the deaths of our husbands. I will miss Edna. She was a lovely friend.

Very sad to hear that Edna has passed away. Have lots and lots of lovely memories of Edna and Ivan in the good old NZFCDC days. Worked for them for many years. Always had time to listen. Edna was a very special lady. Can always remember the smell of her lovely White Diamond perfume coming up the stairs.
