Bro Doug. You were a fond friend. Thank you for your love and friendship when I was living in NZ, especially staying at the 'The Grove'. Your love and devotion to the faith kept you 'running'. Now may you rest in the loving arms of our Saviour. Say hi to Brother Kirean for me :)

Loved and respected as Brother Doug to many, Pat Dawick was our elder cousin
along with his brother Ted. We have happy memories of visits to Lombard Street and of learning of Pat's devoted vocation as teacher, college principal, spiritual counselor and community worker. We have admired his faith, kindness and integrity.
Pat visited Murray in Adelaide on the infamous evening of the 9/11 attacks, an event none of us will ever forget.
We remember him with fondness and great respect.

Doug managed to make everyone he crossed paths with feel like they mattered. I remember him teaching me about how the core of the apple was the sweetest part - he would eat the whole apple - core included. What a metaphor for his life. He was love to the core. Thanks Doug for your example of love and living life to the full.

I feel privileged to have been taught by Br. Douglas in both 1958 + 1964. He was exceedingly good, capable and humble, living for God while teaching his students, and undoubtedly highly appreciated by all his colleagues. I feel it is more fitting to pray not for him, but to him.

Thinking of all Doug's friends, family and Brothers as we say goodbye to a great teacher, faithful friend and one committed to his Marist vocation. Thanks for your wisdom, welcome and warmth. Be at peace.

Brother Douglas was my inspirational and demanding 6th Form English Teacher at St John´s College Hamilton in 1965. We kept in contact over the years. A proud and influential Marist Brother, caring and supportive in all he did.
