Died peacefully surrounded by his family. Loved Dad to Tanya and Shane, Mark and Kim, and Brent. Loved Poppa Don to all his mokopuna's. A celebration of Don's colourful life will be held at The Lychway Chapel, 5 Roy Street, Palmerston North, on Wednesday, September 4th at 2.00pm. Messages to the Neilson family can be sent c/o PO Box 1014, Palmerston North.

i was shocked today to hear you had passed away on saturday.
you were so good to me while living next to you in russell st. thankyou for being my friend and neighbour, and thankyou for those BBQ meals you handed over the back fence for me when you had the BBQ's with the boys. i valued your friendship. i admired you for all you did for me and my daughter when we lived next door.
RIP Don my dear friend and ex neighbour.

Don , you were Poppa Don to your family and your Superstore family too..everyone loved you and your cheeky smile .
The trips to the boxing , the amazing girls night you hosted for us and catered for extensively ..the Xmas dos etc we now treasure as our memories of a great friend ..RIP dearest Poppa Don xx
