With great sadness we announce the passing of Dawson, on Monday 20th July 2015. Aged 55 years, of Palmerston North, formerly from Gisborne. Loved and treasured soulmate (Guru) of Andrea. Dedicated and supportive Papz of Sarah, Kimiora, and Hana Grace. Doting Koro of Te Kakapaiwaho. Beloved son of Jubilee and Pat (dec). Loved brother of Mack and Te Rairi, Polly and Eddie, Ben and Elaine.

A service to celebrate Dawson's life will be held at PNBHS School Hall, Featherston Street Palmerston North, on Friday 24th July 2015 at 10.58am.

When news of a teachers death travels the world and his name is on a strangers lips on the other side of the planet, then you may be sure that this man was a great man. Our condolences to the Tamatea family at this sad time. Mr. T was my form teacher in 1991, he took me under his wing and looked out for me the 5 Years at school. So proud to see how PNBHS performed the school Haka in his honour. My mother also worked with Mr Tamatea. He will be sadly missed.

To the Tamatea Whanau

Tama's as I knew him was my kaiako for 5 years in Te Reo Maori. His classes were the ones I looked forward to the most. We had so much fun and laughs in our little H4 classroom. He was more a bro than my teacher. Kind, funny learnt so much from him. He would be the 1st teacher I'd visit going back to School. Arohanui ki to whanau! RIP Tama's.
