Dame KOOPMAN-BOYDEN Obituary

DNZM, Emeritus Professor. Peacefully at Waikato Hospital on 27 August 2025, aged 82 years. Distinguished academic and advocate for older people, who dedicated more than four decades of her life to advancing the well being of seniors and shaping the nation's understanding of ageing. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Martin & Lauren; Juliet & Fraser. Proud Grandmother of Emma, Lucy, Alex and Parker. Formerly married to the late John Koopman with whom she shared many years and a family. Sister and sister-in-law to Clive & the late Shirley Boyden and Geoff & Glenys Boyden. All messages to Dame Peggy's Family, c/- PO Box 4449, Hamilton 3447. In preference to flowers a donation may be made to Age Concern in her memory. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Peggy's life to be held at the Waikato Cathedral Church of St Peter, 51 Victoria Street, Hamilton, on Thursday 11 September 2025 at 2.00pm. Such fond memories of Peggy´s kindness and support in the forming of the Institute of Healthy Ageing back in mid 2010´s. A great advisor, mentor and guide. RIP Peggy.

Dear Julia, Martin and families. Peter Rankin and I shared many years of friendship with Peggy. She was always fun and stimulating to be with.
