Christine Felton

Arlington, Texas - Christine (Chris) Irwin Felton, 93 passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. A devoted wife, mother, and friend, Chris was known for her warmth, humor, and passion for living life to the fullest.
She was born in Beaumont, Texas, to Frank and Estelle Irwin, and raised in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Chris fondly remembered her happy childhood surrounded by cousins, aunts and uncles, and many wonderful friends, who she stayed in touch with throughout her life.
She met and married William (Bill) Felton in 1951, while attending East Texas State Teachers College. They welcomed their first child in 1952, while earning their bachelor's degrees. Two more sons and a daughter soon followed.
In 1957, Chris and Bill moved their family to Arlington. Chris was a teacher and then principal at the Arlington Country Day Montessori School. She later became Director of the Early Childhood program at First United Methodist Church in Arlington, where she and her family had been members since moving to the city.
Chis loved traveling with Bill and friends on countless trips and cruises all over the world. She was a longtime member of the Wesley Progressors Sunday School class, the Arlington Women's club, the Encore Club, and several bridge clubs.
Chris is survived by a daughter, two sons, and a daughter-in-law. Ellen and Joe Speranza, Frank and Jamie Felton, Russ and Caye Felton, and daughter-in-law Deborah Felton, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Felton, and oldest son, David Felton. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Arlington, 313 N. Center St, Arlington, Texas, 76011. Memorial offerings may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Arlington.
