Really sorry to hear about this Ann and family - it came as a shock. Brett was always so generous with his time, especially through what he gave to the swimming community.

Brett, You were the first cousin from New Zealand I met, and from that time I knew it wouldn't be the last. Since then we'd meet on a few occassions and I would go on to meet Ann, your lovely sons Kendall and Ashton, your brother Ross and Megan and their lovely family. And also delighted to meet your extended family the Clarke's in Timaru. These were times I'll cherish and hope to one day revisit. From one side of the world to the other there are family bonds that are there to be held dear. Live for today tomorrow isn't guaranteed for anyone. RIP Brett GBNF

So many happy school memories, fun times shared, you were the first boy I ever went out to town with on a Friday night and held hands with. I can still remember so well the first solo you sang at Waimataitai School in front of us all and visiting guests. We were all totally blown away. Rest easy Brett and heartfelt condolences to your many loved ones. Thank you for the happy memories.

For my dear cousin Brett

Cousin to cousin is a special thing

A connection to all our family it brings

Cousins are all from the same family tree

Our roots as one, was all we knew our lives to be

Cousins are ready made friends from a young age

Memories of family gatherings, celebrations and outings on each page

Remembering the things we did together as kids

Puts a smile on my face, a group of grandkids

Cousins are childhood playmates and as we grew up

The familiar stories and memories kept us in touch

Cousins make many memories throughout childhood days

Remembering the good times from a young age

I am blessed you were my cousin and part of my life

Your smile warmed hearts, your eyes shined bright

By blood we were cousins, through hearts we were friends

My love for you has no end

I remember the good times and fun we shared

Remembered now through a veil of tears

With love from Lyndsay xoxo

A guy who loved to laugh and loved to make others laugh. A pretty cool mover on the dance floor too as I recall. Plenty of great memories of Brett's time in the Hutt Valley. A really lovely bloke, gone far too soon. He will be missed.
