Basil POFF Obituary
Of Palmerston North, on Saturday, December 24, 2022 passed away peacefully at Metlifecare. Aged 86. Beloved husband of Christine for 59 years. Loved father of Joe, Ben, Dan and Tom. Loved father-in-law of Isabelle, Tui and Jane. Much loved Grandad of Marie, Louise, and Michael; Matthew, and Lucia; Jacob, Dominique, Chelsea, and Annaliese. Messages for the Poff family, c/- PO Box 514, Palmerston North 4440. A service for Basil will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 1.00pm.

Condolences to Christine and family. I remember him riding his bike past out home in Moerangi St, and the children calling him the Santa Claus Man. A nice man.

Ian so sad to hear this. When I first arrived at Massey Basil was on leave and I was given his office and ever since then his rich personality, his breadth and depth of knowledge his caring nature meant he was someone to talk to and go away enlightened and the richer because if his sense of discovery. Basil was one of my PhD supervisors at Massey University. A wonderful man who was always calm and rational. I could not have asked for better support. He will be sadly missed.
