Barry HOLLAND Obituary

HOLLAND,
Barry Vance (Dutchie):
28.10.1936 - 27.12.2022

Of Feilding. Dad passed on Tuesday unexpectedly but peacefully, with family present, and is now reunited with his beloved Lorraine. He was a much-loved husband of Lorraine (deceased) for 56 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Les and Julie (Palmerston North), Raewyn and Rae (Australia), Tracey and Stu (Feilding), and Bronwyn and John (Palmerston North), and loved Pop of Kelly, Renee; Justin, Sharlene; Heidi, Joshua; and Lia and Ellie, and great-grandfather of 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Special friend of Quentin. In line with Dad's wishes a private burial has been held and will be followed by an informal gathering to celebrate Barry's life on Saturday 25th February, 2023 to share stories and memories (details to follow).
RIP.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of a real gentleman. Always cheerful and helping others. We would like to acknowledge Barry & Lorraine´s great friendship with our parent Lionel & Beth Funnell especially in their latter years. In our thoughts at this time of loss.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I remember the good days Fairview Ave and Barry coming to farm taking roast pork out of oven to eat crackling. Mum knew it wouldn't last. So many lovely memories. See you all February.

Barry was stock buyer for Producer meats when he frequented our farm Himatangi strait. He featured in my sphere with golf where Barry and two other regulars would play different courses.
We enjoyed his company and humour.

I knew Barry from the early 1960's, he always bright and cheery, and that wonderful smile, I also knew Lorraine as well as she worked at Dewe Electrical at the same time I was there. In later years (2011-2013) when I was delivering the afternoon newspaper if Barry was outside at Mayfair Ct (which he very often was mowing his and the neighbors lawns) we would have lengthy conversations about all-sorts for sometimes 20 minutes or so, altogether it was a joy and a pleasureto have known him. Not to mention how many Km's he must have walked each week. Murray Marshall
