Barry Lawrence: QSM
On Tuesday 19th April 2023 at Bupa Riverstone Rest Home, Palmerston North, Barry peacefully passed away in the company of his family. Barry was born in Feilding, settled in Palmerston North and was well known in the community as a local magician and a keen bagpiper. A special thank you to all the staff at Bupa Residential Care Home for the special care and love that was shown to him there. A funeral for Barry will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Wednesday 26th April at 1.00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.

Dear Barry

It was an honour to care for you in your last months here on earth. You were a gentle giant and your quick wittedness and great sense of humour would make my time on the floor a joy to work whenever I was rostered in your wing. Thank you for the pleasure of sharing your bagpipe playing the few times you would proudly showcase your instrumental expertise. Thank you for always being keen to show me the pictures of your family that you were proud of and missed always. I loved how you just accepted your present world without complaint. May the aura you influenced into my life continue to be a legacy of who you were as I share the same with others at the place that was home for you in the last few months. Missing you heaps Blessings and much aroha. As we say in Fiji, Isa, moce mada!

My brother and I grew up across the road from Barry and Jenny. I have fond memories of the magic shows he put on for us. Barry always had time for me and my late parents. We spent a lot of time together with neighbour hood gatherings.
We send our sympathies to the family.

So sorry to hear of Barry´s passing. He was a stalwart at Kia Toa Rugby over many years, and I´m sure he pulled a rabbit or two out of his cap to help the double blues to victory on occasions. A real nice guy, with a huge smile. Thoughts are with Jenny and family at this time. RIP Barry.
