Dear Christina and Susan,
Please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of your wonderful
father, Barry.
My sister Alison and I, Pauline, are second cousins of your mother, Annette,
as our grandmother, Violet, and your grandfather, Wilfred, were half-brother and half-sister, our grandmother being the oldest in the family and your grandfather being the youngest. They had a very close relationship and as a result, our family spent a great deal of time with your grandparents, Wilfred and Agnes.
When Wilfred and Agnes bought a holiday house at Raumati South, we had so
many happy times as a family there, spending every Boxing Day and many other holidays there. I well remember the huge lunches that were prepared for the many relations that came for Boxing Day. They were so generous with the house that our memories of that time remain really special.
When we were teenagers, your father, Barry, came into the family and he fitted immediately into this large, extended and close family. Such a lovely
warm kind man with a wonderful smile and sense of humour and always courteous. Although there was a large age gap between us, we all got on so well. It seemed Barry could get on with anyone, both young and old alike.
We all had a great time swimming and enjoying the beach and each other's company.
The age differences did not matter at all. We so enjoyed his, and your mother Annette's company. They were both always very warm and welcoming.
Although we have not seen Barry much over later years, we will always
remember how much fun he was, and we are sad at his passing. In earlier
times we had many large family occasions, and it was always great to catch
up with Barry and Annette.
We share with you in your grief at your Dad's passing. May your happy family
memories give you strength at this time and please know that he was very
much loved by us all.
With our love and sincerest sympathy,
Pauline Beekhuis (nee Clarke)

My condolences to you all . I didn´t really know your Dad but I´ll never forget taking our Dad to a Sanson cafe when he had dementia and your Dad came up and said hello to Dad ( as a fellow local farmer who knew Dad ) He kindly reminded our Dad who he was and held his hand tight so beautifully and had a short chat but said so much in those beautiful actions . I´ll never forget it and knew then what a wonderful man and Dad he must have been. My sincere condolences to you all
