Have lovely memories of Allan. Along with Nancy an amazing couple never lacking for enthusiasm for life in the Kaitawa & Pahiatua district taking part in so many organizations. A lovely pair with zest for life. My memories were the great battles on the tennis courts

The Checkley family will have many memories to share as they farewell Uncle Allan. During the time I was working on the family Checkley/Clulow family settler story, I asked Allan and Nancy if they would like to contribute - sure enough a detailed account of Allan's childhood and farming history arrived soon after. Much later, when 'dogged does it..' was finally published, I rang Allan to say the books had arrived. He said, "Okay, we will be up shortly!" Alkan and Nancy drove up that day and sat on the deck and read the book. I loved Allan and Nancy's enthusiasm for life. With love from Alison and Clyff Harrington
