Judy & family, our condolences to you all at this sad time

To Judy, Fiona, Sandy & Ben my condolences on the passing of Alan. My thoughts are with you all. I always loved his stories he used to tell - my old boss for over 20 years. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend Alan's funeral as I am in Gisborne attending a long-standing engagement.

Alan was great to have in our Massey history classes as a mature student - humorous and insightful. His honours research exercise on the cancelling of Mandy Rice-Davies' cabaret tour of NZ was very 'Alan', both in choice of topic and in treatment. All my sympathy to Judy and family.

Sending my love to you Judy, and to your much loved family. What an amazing man Alan was and how wonderful you both were to me when I met you both some 42 years ago.

I got to meet Alan as a new workplace union delegate for the School Library Service here in Palmerston North back in 1979. He became a great mentor and support to me over many years. I was saddened to see his passing and would like to convey my condolences to the family. I hope to able to be at the funeral.

Sorry to read of Alan's passing. What an inspiration he was and always a stalwart of the working class. Great memories of the PSA Electricity Group campaigns he led.
